The Defender Pro Scout Max HD DV Cellular Camera (Model# BTC-PSMHD-DV) offers multiple ways to operate while in Video Mode depending on how you want videos delivered to the Strike Force Wireless app. This article explains the differences between Standard Video operation and the Direct Video feature.
Standard Video Operation
When the camera is set to Video Mode with the Direct Video feature disabled, the camera operates like a traditional cellular trail camera.
How It Works
When triggered, the camera will:
- Record a video based on the current camera settings
- Transmit a thumbnail image to the Strike Force Wireless app
- Store the full video on the camera
If you would like to view the video in the app, you can use the Request Video button located on the image thumbnail.
Once the request is submitted, the camera will process and transmit the video to the app when it next communicates with the server.
Important Notes
- Only the first 10 seconds of a video can be transmitted to the Strike Force Wireless app
- Video Requests are available through:
- Subscription included usage (if applicable)
- Video Add-On purchases
Using Direct Video
The Direct Video feature is designed to simplify the video delivery process by automatically transmitting video clips to the Strike Force Wireless app.
The Direct Video option can be found on the camera’s Features page within the Strike Force Wireless app.
When operating the camera in Video Mode with Direct Video enabled, the camera will automatically send the video clip to the app when triggered. No manual request is required.
How It Works
When triggered, the camera will:
- Record the video
- Automatically transmit the video directly to the Strike Force Wireless app
- Display the video in the app without requiring a Request Video command
Important Notes About Direct Video
- Direct Video usage requires a Direct Video Add-On
- Direct Videos are transmitted in standard resolution
- If you would like a higher quality version of the video, you can still use the Request Video button on the transmitted video to request the HD version
- Only the first 10 seconds of a video can be transmitted to the Strike Force Wireless app
Which Option Should I Use?
Use Standard Video If:
- You only occasionally want videos transmitted to the app
- You prefer to manually decide which videos to request
- You want to conserve Direct Video Add-On usage
Use Direct Video If:
- You want videos automatically delivered to the app
- You do not want to manually request videos
- You want the fastest possible access to video clips after camera activity
