GPS Theft Protection Overview
GPS Theft Protection is a security feature designed to protect your camera in the event it is stolen.
When activated, the camera will lock itself and begin sending timed images to the app.
Compatible Camera Models
GPS Theft Protection is available on the following models:
- BTC-RLDCP
- BTC-V
- BTC-VP
- BTC-VPHD
- BTC-VPHD-AI
- BTC-VPHD-L
- BTC-VPHD-LSF
This feature works on all subscriptions.
How GPS Theft Protection Works
When enabled, the camera operates normally in the field until movement of the camera is detected based on your selected GPS Theft Sensitivity setting.
If the camera is moved:
- The feature is triggered.
- The camera locks itself (display will show "LOCKED").
- Normal motion detection stops.
- The camera begins sending an image to the app every 10 minutes.
- Images are sent automatically and do not rely on motion detection.
This allows you to monitor camera movement and location in near real-time.
Pro Tip
Enable GPS Theft Protection once your camera is fully positioned and secured in the field for the best protection and to avoid unnecessary alerts.
Enabling GPS Theft Protection
- Open the Strike Force Wireless app.
- Go to Cameras.
- Select your camera.
- Navigate to Settings > Features > GPS Theft.
- Toggle GPS Theft Protection to Enabled.
- Select a sensitivity level: Low, Medium, or High.
The feature will activate at the camera’s next scheduled sync time.
Choosing a Sensitivity Level
Sensitivity determines how much movement is required to trigger the feature.
- Low – Best for cameras mounted to smaller trees or mounts that may move in wind.
- Medium – Balanced setting for most installations.
- High – Best for cameras mounted to sturdy, stable trees or posts.
What You’ll See If It Is Triggered
If GPS Theft Protection activates:
- A notification modal appears in the app indicating the camera has been triggered.
- You will have quick-access buttons to:
- View Photos
- View Camera Location (Map)
- Access GPS Theft Settings
- The camera will continue sending images every 10 minutes until reset.
Resetting GPS Theft Protection
If the camera was moved intentionally (for example, repositioning or maintenance), you can reset the trigger:
- Go to Cameras > Settings > Features > GPS Theft.
- Select Reset GPS Theft Trigger.
- Tap Reset.
The camera will resume normal operation within approximately 10 minutes.
Important Notes
- GPS Theft Protection should be enabled only after the camera has been mounted in its final location.
- Before changing batteries, replacing an SD card, or moving the camera, disable this feature to prevent accidental triggering.
- If a stolen camera is powered off, updates will only be available up to the last time it communicated.
